Kit Eastman

I use the materials and techniques of the traditional Japanese textile art of katazome (stencil dyeing) to capture my experience of a natural place.  My materials - cloth, rice paste resist, soy milk, natural dyes and pigments - engage my senses. The process creates a centering rhythm and a space for reflection. In sharing my work, I hope the viewer can remember or recognize a personal and wholistic connection to animals, plants, earth, water and sky.
