Artist Statement
I walk almost daily around the small lake near my St. Paul home, which is part of a large city park. I watch the comings and goings of birds through the seasons, and the succession of blooming prairie and woodland plants, which were added as part of a city shoreline restoration project. It is not only the shoreline that is being restored by this human effort. A transcendent beauty imbues this changing yet constant scenery. My frequent walks here connect me to the landscape and its non-human inhabitants and provide a wellspring of inspiration for my current drawings and woodblock prints.
